On October 17, 2019, Alaska Air Group Credit Union will join with 56,000 credit unions around the world in celebration of International Credit Union (ICU) Day®. We hope members will join us in celebrating by visiting our SeaTac or Anchorage branch on International Credit Union Day. The credit union will have a display in the lobby including cookies, coloring pages for kids, door prizes and a drawing for cash prizes. We will also be hosting a contest on social media for members that are unable to make it into a branch.
There are 200+ million credit union members around the world—more than 100 million in the U.S. alone—and Alaska Air Group Credit Union joins them in celebration of the not-for-profit cooperative spirit that all credit unions share.
This cooperative spirit has led to life-changing opportunities for people all over the world who’ve wanted to start a small business, own a home or continue their education but were denied access to other financial institutions. In many parts of the world, people’s first taste of democracy is through their credit union, where “one member, one vote” is the governing structure.
At its most basic level, a credit union is people pooling their money to provide each other with affordable loans—it is literally people helping people. This is why Alaska Air Group Credit Union celebrates ICU Day. Because credit unions empower people, wherever they are in the world or life, to take control of their financial future.
We hope our members stop by our SeaTac Branch or Anchorage Branch or participate on social media to celebrate with AAGCU a movement that concerns itself with the financial success of all people.
Member Contest
To celebrate International Credit Union Day and give back to our members, we will be awarding three (3) $50 cash prizes! Members can enter the contest on October 17th by one of the following ways:
- Enter in person: Submit an official International Credit Union Day Contest slip in an AAGCU branch
- Enter online: Complete all instructions on the official International Credit Union Day contest post on AAGCU’s Facebook page
