Visa Fraud Alerts

Our Visa Debit Security Measures identify purchases made outside of your normal spending pattern. If a purchase seems suspicious, you will receive a fraud alert email.  You may also receive a near real-time text message to confirm the transaction. If we are unable to reach you through text message, a fraud representative will call you. You do not need to do anything for this protection. It is included as a part of our everyday security features.

Chip Technology

Our debit and credit cards are equipped with chip technology. Chip technology is just one of the many ways that we protect your accounts from unauthorized use. The tiny chip protects against fraud by creating a one-time code for each transaction. This code is virtually impossible to counterfeit and helps reduce in-store fraud.

Additional Resources

Here are two websites with tools to help educate consumers on identifying and reporting fraud:

Reporting Identity Theft

If you believe you have received a fraudulent message over the Internet, report the message to the Internet Crime Complaint Center.

If you believe you have been the victim of identity theft, you can call one of the three nationwide credit bureaus, Equifax, Experian and TransUnion. They have made it easier for identity theft victims. Now you need only call one of the three bureaus, and they’ll notify the others.

Credit bureau phone numbers to place a fraud alert:

Equifax – (800) 525-6285
Experian – (888) 397-3742
TransUnion – (800) 680-7289

Scams and fraud are on the rise. Be cautious of suspicious texts and calls, even if they come from a trusted number.

We have received notice of a few members receiving fraudulent calls, spoofing the AAGCU phone number. If you receive a call that seems suspicious, please hang up immediately and call us back directly at 206.824.9800.
