International Credit Union (ICU) Day® celebrates the spirit of the global credit union movement. The day is recognized to reflect upon the credit union movement’s history, promote its achievements, recognize hard work, and share member experiences.
International Credit Union Day® is organized by World Council of Credit Unions, the global trade association and development platform for credit unions and other financial cooperatives, as well as numerous national credit union trade associations and federations around the world.
The goal is to raise awareness about the tremendous work that credit unions and financial cooperatives are doing around the world and give members the opportunity to get more engaged.
This year, we celebrate 78 years of International Credit Union Day® under the theme “Cooperative Finance: A Steady Signal in a Noisy World”. This theme highlights that even when the financial landscape shifts, credit unions remain consistent. Credit Unions are built on trust, rooted in community, and focused on the people, making them consistent and grounded in a complex world.
