For the third year in a row, Alaska Air Group Credit Union has made the S&P Global Market Intelligence list of Top 100 best-performing US banks and credit unions. We are honored this year to rank #30, and to be one of only three Washington headquartered credit unions represented.
The scores were calculated based on six metrics: member change, shares and deposits per member, net worth as a percentage of total assets, return on average assets, delinquent loans as a percentage of total loans, and net charge-offs as a percentage of total loans. Alaska Air Group Credit Union performed incredibly well on all of these metrics, especially excelling in member growth, at 10.7% organic member growth, compared to the top 100 median of 2.3%, and industry median of 0.7%.

Alaska Air Group Credit Union was also once again recognized in the Newsweek ranking of America’s Best Regional Banks and Credit Unions, and received a 5-star rating. According to Newsweek, “The ranking is based on a comprehensive research study that incorporates in-depth desk research, a large-scale nationwide survey, and millions of online reviews to identify the 500 best regional banks and 500 best credit union in the country.”* Measurements included the Texas ratio – which indicates an institutions use of credit and how well it can cover losses – profitability, and net loans. It also included surveys from over 66,000 US customers, analysis of social media and app store reviews, and a review of any legal disputes or incidents. Over 8,800 banks and credit unions were considered and evaluated.
Alaska Air Group Credit Union was also recognized as a Category’s Best Diamond Award winner for an internal marketing campaign during the 2025 system upgrade. The Diamond Awards are prestigious credit union marketing awards, that recognize creative excellence in credit union marketing. This is the second year in a row that AAGCU has been honored to win a Diamond Award.
